PFP is a locally-run micro-finance initiative enriching the lives of rural women & families.
Working hands-on with local communities across the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, PFP promotes improved livestock & agriculture practices as renewable revenue streams, empowering rural families to build economic stability to support their basic needs—improving health and safety, funding education, and fostering family & community relations.
Economic empowerment, gender equality, AND environmental sustainability
Fostering long-term change takes a systemic approach. PFP operates three interrelated programs, all stimulating sustainable income-generating activities aimed at helping rural families lift themselves out of extreme poverty:
Pigs For PEACE
Women and families are trained to raise and sell pigs as a living asset that can provide a source of recurring revenue.
Rabbits For
Resilience
Adolescent youth can support their families and gain entrepreneurial skills by raising and selling rabbits.
Butcher’s
Marketplace
Preserving and transforming meat products to sell at a community butcher shop increases revenue potential.
A GLOBAL COLLABORATION FOR LOCAL IMPACT
PFP is a collaborative effort between PAIDEK, a locally-operated Congolese micro-finance organization, and Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, a global health & research institution based in the United States.
Your support matters
While the goal of PFP is to evolve into a self-sustaining social enterprise, there are many unforeseen challenges that can stifle progress along the way. Your financial support helps ensure PFP programs can expand to reach communities and impact lives.
